Kino Laika is your one-stop destination for cinema, refreshments and unique sceneries in the booming city of Karkkila. Founded in 2021 by director Aki Kaurismäki with writer and poet Mika Lätti, Kino Laika consists of a well-furnished movie theatre as well as a fully stocked and accommodating wine bar.
Are you looking to enjoy the latest feature films or a host of surprising classics and documentaries? Are you simply looking for a place to sit down, enjoy a glass of wine and immerse yourself in the unique decor and atmosphere designed by Kaurismäki himself? Kino Laika has all this and more!
We are featured on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ ThisisFINLAND website.

Our regular programme is available under ”Ohjelmisto” in the navigation bar above (in Finnish only).
Private Screenings & Events
Our bar and cinema are both available for private functions.
The bar includes two spaces separate from the public venue: a club backstage as well as a conference room for lectures, workshops or parties. All refreshments, snacks and dining accompanying your event can also be arranged through us.
You can also arrange for a private screening of a movie of your choice. We carry all recent feature films released worldwide and can likely source any other film you require. We naturally have the complete works of Aki Kaurismäki on hand as well!
A tip to the wise: ask about our movie cocktails! We heartily recommend setting your group up with a serving of Honolulu Winter, a ginger-based mule cocktail you might have seen on the silver screen in Drifting Clouds.
Location & Travel
Our address is Valurinkatu 2 C, Karkkila.
Karkkila is in the immediate vicinity of Helsinki and accessible in an hour by car or public transport. You will find our location just a short walk from the city centre.
We are located in the Ala-Emali business centre at the heart of the city’s historical industrial district. The building also hosts businesses for arts and crafts, wellness and dining. Surrounding all this are the most scenic nature routes and waters you can find!
For an extended visit, you can book a room at the nearby Tehtaan Hotelli. There is plenty to see and do, well worth settling in for a full weekend. We have teamed up with them to offer you a Film-a-holic’s Weekend travel package that includes a night at the hotel, breakfast and dinner included, as well as a voucher to any movie of your choice with a complimentary glass of wine at our bar!
